THE QUEEN AT CHESTER 0330 283 402 | www.thequeenatchesterhotel.co.uk The Queen at Chester is a Grade II-listed Italiante building, and has been hosting weddings for more than 150 years. Inside is a theatrical four-storey staircase with ornate iron balustrade, while outside there’s an elegant Italian terrace garden with marble arches, classical sculptures and lush foliage. The Hotel features eight event areas, with two al fresco spaces and six banqueting suites, catering for every type of reception, civil ceremony and partnership. Built opposite Chester station to serve first-class rail passengers, the venue has an illustrious past and was said to be the first skyscraper of its time. Guests will also be following in the footsteps of some rather famous guests with a stay here. Since opening in 1860, it’s hosted none other than Charles Dickens, Cecil Rhodes and Lillie Langtry, to name but a few. The Colonnades can accommodate 300 guests and is the perfect space for large ceremonies and receptions. Brimming with character, its high ceiling boasts a showstopping, gleaming chandelier. The Palazzo can hold 120 loved ones. Natural lights floods the space, which offers views over the Baltic Exchange Gardens. The Gardens in turn can accommodate 150 guests. For more intimate “I dos,” The Victoria Room can host 60 nearest and dearest and is one of the hotel’s original lounges in the Grade II listed part of the building. As you’d expect, it’s brimming with Victorian character and features, again with views of the Baltic Exchange Gardens. The Disraeli Room is located on the first floor and is brimming with character and Victorian features, not forgetting those views of the lovely gardens. There’s room here for 25 of your nearest and dearest. At the end of a wonderful day, you can retire to the honeymoon suite with its stunning four-poster bed and feature bath.
