January/February 2022

Welcome to the first Your Cheshire & Merseyside Wedding magazine for 2022, and may I take this opportunity to wish you all a very happy new year. For those of you tying the knot this year, January 1st will have marked a significant milestone as you draw ever closer to the big day. How’s your planning going? If you find you’ve got a little bit of extra budget for those amazing finishing touches, you won’t want to miss one page as there’s inspiration aplenty as always. As you know, I’m going to be a bridesmaid for my friend and fellow CWM editor, Melissa, in July and it’s taken her this long to talk her other half Dave into booking a photo booth! This was actually thanks to another of our gorgeous colleagues, social media coordinator Beth who hired one for her big day, and we were barely out of it all evening! So, these super-cool elements are well worth looking into if you can.

The other thing I’ve learned since I last spoke to you is on the topic of shopping for bridesmaids’ dresses. Speaking from experience I can tell you that for your best gals, choosing that perfect dress for the big day could be almost, if not equally, as important to them as finding yours was to you. You’ve asked them to be part of this enormous occasion in your life and in all likelihood, they’ll want to give the best account of themselves as they support you. So, inspired by the unbelievably patient and all-round diamond Melissa, my advice is this: be kind. Perhaps they’ve got body confidence issues, perhaps they’re feeling the pressure – don’t leave it to the last minute, allow them as much time as possible to make their decision. You love your bride tribe, that’s why you asked them to be by your side. If you want them to feel comfortable and enjoy the day alongside you, helping them to feel their big-day best too will go a long way towards that. Oh, and don’t forget to have bags of fun along the way!

That’s all from me this issue, except to extend a very warm welcome to those of you who said “yes” over the festive period and are new to Your Cheshire & Merseyside Wedding. I hope you feel inspired by what you find here.

Enjoy and keeeep planning!

Walton Hall and Gardens

Set in acres of idyllic parkland, Walton Hall and Gardens is steeped in history. The former home of Lord and Lady Daresbury, it boasts antique furniture, an oak-panelled entrance, grand staircase and high gilded ceilings. There are a range of rooms and options available to you for your ceremony and reception, with all indoor spaces featuring beautiful views across the gardens. Best of all, the Hall is exclusively yours for your special day including The Lady Daresbury Room for your morning preparations.

The gardens here are stunning whatever time of year. Rhododendrons, azaleas and wildflowers provide a blaze of colour during spring and summer, after which the trees take on autumn hues of red, orange and gold, while winter sees the return of a frosted wonderland. There are a wide variety of trees, plants and wildlife throughout, creating a beautiful backdrop for the photos you’ll treasure forever.

You’re spoilt for choice with six wedding locations inside and out. The Concert Room can host 100 loved ones. On the ground floor of the historical Hall it features large windows, which look out out across the gardens and bandstand. It can be arranged in your chosen style to include an area for a DJ or band and dancefloor allowing you and your guests to party the night away. The Ruby Room too can accommodate 100 and is located on the first floor boasting exquisite views of the formal gardens. The Glasshouses were lovingly restored a couple of years ago and offer panoramic views of the estate from their beautiful sunny location. They can play host to 60 of your nearest and dearest.

You can say al fresco “I dos” on The Bandstand. Traditional in style, it’s located next to the Hall with plenty of space on the grass for guests to sit in rows, as well as standing room for larger groups. The Pergola is a more intimate spot set in the formal gardens offering a peaceful setting for your vows just a short walk from the Hall. Finally, the Woodland Hideaway is new for spring 2022. This secluded setting is nestled deep in the gardens providing a private ceremony spot. Again, only a hop, skip and a jump from the Hall, it sits amongst towering trees and boasts elegant lighting and rustic charm. The gardens offer myriad options for hosting your reception and the venue is open to any ideas you may have. From festival-style tipis to braving the British weather with an open-air party the choice is yours. All outdoor locations have a capacity of 100 based on a wet-weather plan involving moving to into the Hall.

Kasey Clarke, Founder of Sweet Cakey Thing, explains how certain ingredients used in baking can actually be better for your skin compared to some moisturisers, leaving your skin looking hydrated and glowing. We all dreamt of smothering ourselves in cake as a child, yet even then, that sort of behaviour wouldn't go down too well at the dinner table. However, founder of Sweet Cakey Thing, Kasey Clarke, is here to explain why covering ourselves in cake is absolutely a good thing, as long as the ingredients are too. Here, she shares seven baking ingredients, which will help keep skin nourished and hydrated, making your skincare routine a piece of cake, literally.
