July/August 2022

W-day is imminent! As the County Wedding Magazines editorial crew prepare to see our beloved senior editor, Melissa, become a Mrs, we can’t help but be niggled by at least a small sense of shock at just how quickly the big day has come around. Something, I’ve no doubt you’re all experiencing too as your own weddings draw closer.

Christmas Day 2020 feels like only yesterday, when my fellow bridesmaid, Olivia, and I bombarded Melissa with WhatsApp messages: “Has he done it yet? Has he done it yet?” We knew the proposal was imminent you see, and were more than just a tad excited! Boy, have we had an adventure together since: the tears of joy at being asked to be bridesmaids (“Are you sure you want me?”), the fun of shopping for the dresses, and the hilarity of the hen dos (yes plural, she deserves it). The past year-and-a-half has seen us grow closer as friends, not just Melissa, Olivia and I – the three amigos; but also with our gorgeous fellow bridesmaid Nolwenn and the groom, dear Dave. Weddings have a habit of doing that don’t they? Of course, they’re a celebration of love between the all-important couple, but more than that, they allow a much wider expression of love for friends, family and even fur-babies! After all, that’s why we’re all here isn’t it? I know it’s why I spend my days writing about your amazing big days and why I never tire of looking at the resulting photographs. To quote a hero of mine, RuPaul: “Everybody say love.”

I hope you enjoy the oodles of inspiration this issue has to offer. We’ve got a breathtaking styled shoot packed with ideas from the region’s finest wedding suppliers, as well as three incredible real weddings. Plus, there’s plenty of guidance on hand if you’re starting out on your wedding journey in our Planning SOS feature (page 49), and we’ve honed in on venue styling from page 59. So, dive in, notebook and pen at the ready.

Enjoy and keeeep planning!

Cheshire View

Cheshire View is located in Christleton, just four miles from the historical city of Chester. True to its name, this venue offers breathtaking views of the Cheshire countryside, creating the ideal backdrop for those all-important photos.

The beautiful garden boasts a wooden gazebo, which offers a gorgeous spot for an al fresco ceremony. There’s also a terrace and patio area, ideal for drinks receptions or simply to spread out and mingle. The venue also allows you to benefit from a large, grassed area, the perfect spot for a marquee, tipi, garden games or even a bouncy castle.

Here, you can choose from three licensed rooms as well as the garden. For intimate “I dos,” The Lewis Room is a modern and fresh area, which can seat 30 nearest and dearest. The Christleton Room too is ideal for smaller gatherings holding 55, with its conservatory style offering views of the countryside.

Moving up in size the Littleton Room holds 84 loved ones and with lots of windows it offers you the stunning views as the backdrop to your vows. This space can be combined with The Lewis Room to accommodate 100 guests.

Finally for the ceremony, there’s the lovely garden where there’s space for 85 guests. The perfect place for a summer wedding it allows you to enjoy those views and makes for stunning pictures.

The Littleton Room can also host your reception seating 50. When combined with The Lewis the space becomes large enough for 90 nearest and dearest, a dancefloor and musical entertainment.

Alternatively, you have the option to utilise the Waverton Room, the largest at the venue. It can seat 150 guests for the wedding breakfast, with the option to invite up to 170 for the evening do. It has a large bar and a door that opens onto the outdoor area.
