March/April 2021 |

I don’t know about you, but I can hardly believe that this madness has been going on for a year now. It’s mind-boggling to think of how different life was back when Covid was just the stuff of movie plots. Using the word “Zoom” in every other sentence, working in one’s pyjamas, and deciding whether to turn to the black market for toilet rolls are all things that we never imagined would become reality. But in looking back over these surreal times I’ve also been reflecting on the good. Like many of you, I’ve celebrated a lockdown birthday – yep, I’ve turned 40 since I last spoke to you! I’ll admit to feeling disappointed that my planned celebrations couldn’t go ahead, but what meant even more was the outpouring of love and thoughtfulness from friends and family.
So, enough about me. What about you? How’s your checklist coming along? With spring ahead of us, we’re getting excited about al fresco “I dos,” pastel hues and beautiful blooms. As are our region’s suppliers who, determined not to have their creativity stifled by the pandemic, have been hard at work (safely and when permitted) putting together no less than three styled shoots for you this issue. We’ve got everything from the colourful and quirky to the elegance of a manor house.
What’s more if you’re approaching the end of your todo list and looking for those extra special elements to take things over the edge into showstopping, check out our finishing touches feature over on page 55, packed with advice from the experts. There’s plenty more fabulousness on every page, so I’ll delay you no longer.
Enjoy and keeeep planning!

Capesthorne Hall
Capesthorne Hall is a beautiful, family-owned Jacobean stately home, which can be exclusively yours for your dream wedding day. It comprises the Courtyard, Main Hall and contemporary Lakeside Wing. Set in the heart of the Cheshire countryside, this stunning venue overlooks three lakes and glorious formal gardens.
The rooms of the Main Hall boast a wealth of period features including chandeliers, feature fireplaces, ornate Italian paintings and sculptures, which work together to create a magnificent setting for your ceremony and celebrations.
Ceremonies are held in the elegant Drawing Room, Queen Anne Room, Lakeside Wing or al fresco in the Courtyard or Lakeside Gazebo. Maximum capacity in the Hall is 120 and 150 in the Lakeside Wing.
Drinks receptions are usually hosted in the Saloon, which has views over the West Lawn across to the woodland beyond. If the weather is fine you can wander outside onto the Terrace. Evening receptions are enjoyed in the contemporary Lakeside Wing, which has elevated views over the gardens and can be hired separately from the Hall either for the whole day for larger receptions and evening revelries with space for 180 loved ones.
You’ll be offered a complimentary stay in the South Tower cottage for your wedding night, and the venue’s caterers offer free tasting sessions.
