November/December 2020

Yes folks, it’s that time of year again where I go positively gaga over everything Christmas. Regardless of everything that’s happened this year, I refuse to let it dampen my seasonal spirit. So, with that said, I’d certainly advise you not to miss our roundup of cosy winter wonderland venues over on page 18.

Wait, the wedspiration doesn’t end there. We’ve got three of our readers’ big days to share with you, allowing you to learn from those who’ve gone before you. Don’t miss Jen and Pete’s beautiful big day on page 22, which went ahead adhering to the government’s Covid guidelines. It’s a must-read if you’re in the process of re-planning your nuptials. Plus, we’ve chatted to the county’s photographers (page 39) about capturing those all-important shots whatever the weather – a super-handy guide if you’re looking to tie the knot at this time of year.

So, without any further ado, I’ll let you dive in, and hope you enjoy this issue as much as I enjoyed putting it together. Wishing you all a very happy Christmas and I’ll see you in 2021.

Capesthorne Hall

Capesthorne Hall is a beautiful, family-owned Jacobean stately home, overlooking three lakes and stunning formal gardens. The intimate family chapel, set within the grounds, can also be used for wedding vows. The rooms of the Main Hall boast a wealth of period features, including chandeliers, feature fireplaces, ornate Italian paintings and sculptures, creating a setting for your ceremony, drinks reception and wedding breakfast that’s nothing short of magnificent.

Set in the heart of the Cheshire countryside, the beautiful grounds surrounding the Hall include formal gardens, lakes, woodland and parkland, providing an amazing setting for your treasured photos. The ornate lakeside gazebo provides a stunning al fresco wedding setting with the tree-lined avenue leading to it creating a natural aisle for your big entrance.

The venue is licensed to hold civil ceremonies in the Drawing Room, Queen Anne Room, contemporary Lakeside Wing with elevated views over the gardens, as well as outside in the Courtyard and Lakeside Gazebo. Maximum capacity inside the Hall is 120, whereas in the Lakeside Wing it’s 150.

Drinks receptions are held in the Saloon, where you can enjoy views over the West Lawn across to the woodland beyond. If the weather is fine, guests can wander outside onto the terrace, which runs along the back of the Main Hall. Evening receptions take place in the Lakeside Wing. The venue can accommodate 160 for the wedding breakfast and 180 for your evening bash.

Capesthorne Hall’s caterers offer free tasting sessions and reduced-rate accommodation is available for the wedding party.
