Welcome one and all to another issue of Your Cheshire & Merseyside Wedding. Here we are, my favourite part of the year where it feels like there’s so much to look forward to (will you be cross if I say I’m excited about Christmas already?). I adore the autumn as colours change and the air starts to cool. Mind you, based on the weather as I write this, the temperatures won’t have far to fall this year! What a great time to get married though. September tends to be pretty dependable climate-wise and there’s a wonderfully romantic feel of promise just as the seasons change. Plus, I love to see what couples and their suppliers come up with in terms of wedding colour palettes at this time of year – burgundy paired with blush is my top tip!
I’m loving being involved with wedding plans myself as Melissa, my dear friend and editor here at CWM, makes plans to tie the knot next July, with yours truly as bridesmaid – I may have mentioned that once or twice... She’s already chosen her gown, in which she looks stunning. But what we learned from this experience is not to panic if you don’t instantly burst in to tears at the knowledge that it’s the one. If that’s just not you, you’re unlikely to change your entire personality the moment you try on a wedding dress. Sometimes, the knowledge that you’ve chosen your dream attire comes from careful deliberation and a process of trying on all silhouettes to know what suits and what doesn’t. Melissa actually chose a dress that’s the complete opposite to what she thought she’d go for and this is something we as editors hear all the time. Remember: you do you and don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.

Shrigley Hall Hotel and Spa
A classic Victorian country house, this elegant hotel boasts 155 en-suite bedrooms and is set in more than 262 acres of gorgeous grounds, including and 18-hole championship golf course. Surrounded by beautiful Cheshire countryside, it’s set high in the hills bordering the Peak District, creating a secluded and tranquil atmosphere for your big day.
The largest of the wedding spaces is the Tilden Suite, which can host 240 for your vows and reception. A former monastery chapel with domed roof, it boasts a wealth of 18th-century architectural features. This is a completely private room with its own bar and private entrance.
The William Turner Suite, located in the main building with beautiful crystal chandeliers and French windows can accommodate 100 for the ceremony and 140 for the reception. It has an adjoining private reception room overlooking the courtyard and a private bar area. Finally, the Drawing Room, which has capacity for 50 for “I dos” and celebrations, is a beautiful room also located in the main house. It has front-facing views of the golf course and beyond. Plus, its impressively ornate high ceiling is sure to bring the wow factor to any intimate wedding.
The recently refurbished Bazaar Spa, complete with indoor pool, offers you an ideal opportunity to relax and unwind pre- or post wedding. What’s more, the new outdoor infinity pool, heated to a welcoming 38 degrees is the perfect spot to spend some honeymoon time together as you enjoy the local views and romantic sunsets.
