Viki Moglione and Andy Currie first met in 2005 when Andy was studying at the construction college where Viki worked. “I used to renew his bus pass or sort out any payment queries for him,” the bride remembers. “Never in a million years did I think he'd be my future husband!” Fast-forward to 2013 and Viki was working for Emirates Airline in Dubai. “I received a message from Andy asking if we had a mutual friend; it turns out he was besties with my cousin throughout school,” the newlywed recalls. While on leave back in Liverpool, Viki and Andy decided to meet up. “I went to his house and we talked for hours – I couldn't believe how much we had in common,” she tells us. Viki soon returned to Dubai but the couple spoke every day, knowing that they didn't want to be apart. “I resigned from my job and returned to the UK where I moved in with Andy,” say Viki. “The rest is history.”
Knowing his love wasn't one for grand proposals, Andy asked Viki to marry him while they watched Everton winning on TV. He asked, “Will you be my bezzie for life?” Of course Viki said 'Yes' and they soon set the date for 9th September, 2017. Here, the bride tells us about their special day…
We viewed The Devonshire House Hotel when it was set up for a wedding. We were both amazed b y how beautiful it was. After viewing four other venues we knew we had to go back and book our date.
We decided on a Beauty & The Beast theme. It's our favourite film and we've visited the Be Our Guest restaurant in Disney's Magic Kingdom three times now – each time was so magical that we had to bring that joy to our special day.
Our theme ran throughout the day, from the tables named after characters, to the enchanted rose on the top table. We also had candelabra, crystals and roses filling the room.
Our flower-filled LOVE letters looked amazing and made a great photo opportunity.
Our cake had four delicious tiers of Victoria sponge, chocolate, lemon drizzle and red velvet. We had a rose in a glass jar on the top with pretty edible petals falling down.
When I started looking for my gown I had a specific idea of what I wanted, but I just wasn't getting the wow factor. My mother-in-law chose a wild-card dress for me to try and before the assistant had even zipped it up I was in tears; I knew it was the one. It even had pockets so my tissues were to hand on such an emotional day.
Andy and his groomsmen wanted something really special so they opted for a traditional tailcoat with striped trousers. They chose pastel pink accessories, which tied in perfectly with my bridesmaids' dresses. My best girls looked amazing in full-length Coast styles with embellishment that mirrored my dress.
I didn't think I'd be so nervous walking down the aisle, but I was terrified of falling over! We had a wonderful moment after the ceremony when Andy and I went for a drive in the wedding car. It was lovely spending time together as man and wife.
My mum really wanted me to have a father-and-daughter dance. My dad is really shy so I didn't think he'd do it, but he agreed! Our DJ played That's Amore, which is perfect as my father has Italian heritage, we now have that memory to cherish forever.
We both agreed that the day couldn't have gone any better and we loved every moment.
