Planning a hen party or stag do? – Coronavirus awareness

Planning a hen party or stag do? – Coronavirus awareness: Image 1

March is normally the busiest time of the year for booking hen and stag dos says Funktion Events managing director, Jay Broughton; however, as we all experienced, all of our lives changed in March due to the coronavirus pandemic and none more so than the wedding and travel industries.

With dreams of a city-break stag do in Prague, or a sun-seeking holiday hen do in Spain dashed; what are the options for organising a memorable send off to your unmarried status."It's normal to panic about the spread of this virus possibly affecting one of the most important milestones in your life," adds Jay. However, there are a few things to consider:

  • Companies such as Funktion Events lend you the ability to move bookings from this year to later in 2020 or 2021.
  • If you have sorted personal travel insurance, those companies can help you navigate the travel bans in the UK to other destinations.
  • Keep up to date by checking ABTA – This body supports the travel industry in supporting high service standards and offering advice to tour operators and the general public.Travelaware – This content comes directly from the Foreign & Commonwealth Office and advises about countries.
"Across the whole industry the trends show that about 55-60% of stag groups travel into Europe to celebrate; whereas only 25-30% of hen parties venture abroad, so stag dos will be most effected" adds Jay.

The UK is moving its strategy from containing to slowing the outbreak so perhaps UK stag and hen do alternative will surge in popularity – also key for eco-conscious friends and family that are looking to reduce their carbon foot print, especially now we've seen how the world is benefiting from less pollution.
