Runcorn Town Hall hosts the UK's first post-lockdown wedding

Halton’s Register Office at Runcorn Town Hall has hosted, what is thought to be, the first ceremony in England following the easing of lockdown restrictions just after midnight on 4th July. Widnes-based couple Louise Arnold and Jennifer Wilson took their vows in the beautifully lit and decorated Runcorn Town Hall, just minutes into the day the government lifted the most stringent of its Covid-19 restrictions on weddings.

Jennifer’s parents were unable to attend, but watched the “I dos” online from their home in Australia, as did some of the couple’s friends and family in New Zealand, which is where they met.
