Located in the heart of the historical Royal Albert Dock, Maritime Museum tells the story of one of the world’s greatest ports. From the large HMS Conway anchored at the building’s entrance to the ship models in the spacious galleries, the Museum forms a one-of-a-kind part of Liverpool’s history, and offers an iconic place to get married.

Licensed for civil ceremonies and partnerships with up to 200 guests, the Grade I listed venue offers a dedicated space for weddings and events on the building’s fourth floor, transformed from a storage warehouse where valuable shipping cargo was stored more than 100 years ago.

THE “I DOS”

Ceremonies take place in the Maritime Dining Room, where you can be accompanied by 200 loved ones. This is a flexible and private space with high ceilings and stunning views over the Royal Albert Dock and Pier Head.

THE CELEBRATIONS

Celebrate in style in the Maritime Museum Events Suite. This space features stylish exposed brick walls and large windows, which offer wonderful views of the Royal Albert Dock and Liverpool Waterfront. It also boasts high ceilings and offers ultimate flexibility. Here, you can party with 200 of your nearest and dearest.

The venue also boasts an impressive outdoor space on the waterside Colonnades. This also overlooks the Dock and is an ideal area to enjoy a drinks reception, evening buffet and barbecue. You could even hop on a boat and sail off into the sunset thanks to its position on the water.

When you book your wedding here, you’ll be offered a complimentary food tasting.

Married to your surname? 26% of women are planning on keeping theirs

Lots of people are ditching traditions when it comes to modern weddings and marriage - one of which quickly losing favour is the tradition of taking your partner's surname. In a recent survey carried out by Pandora UK, almost nine in ten (88%) women said they think that attitudes to married names are changing in 2026 ¹. When asked, over a quarter (26%) of unmarried women said they'd keep their last name if they got married, whilst less than half (45%) said they'd take their partner's name. This is indicative of the shift in opinion in recent years, as when married women were asked, only a sixth (17%) of women said they kept their maiden names when they got married, whilst the majority (78%) took their partner's surname, with just 4% choosing to double-barrel their last name with their significant other.
