More couples are opting for short getaways in the UK this year, new booking data reveals.
Over the past year, lodge holiday provider Parkdean Resorts has seen a notable rise in demand for romantic breaks closer to home. By analysing sales data, it’s been revealed that bookings by couples have surged by 14% year-on-year.
This highlights an increasing trend of shorter, more affordable romantic staycations. With a growing appetite for intimate breaks in the UK, the travel experts have revealed the specific locations surging in demand and how to make couple breaks extra romantic.
Last-minute breaks simple and accessible
Based on this, Parkdean Resorts has revealed two key drivers behind this growing staycation trend among couples: value for money and convenience.
“One of the biggest factors driving the growth in demand for UK staycations is the value for money they offer. Our research shows that 61% of UK holidaymakers believe domestic holidays provide better value than trips abroad, with 54% citing cost as the primary reason for choosing a destination closer to home.
Convenience is another key factor, with 70% of UK holidaymakers saying ease of travel is a top reason to staycation. With 65 holiday parks across the UK, Parkdean Resorts puts millions of holidaymakers within just a few hours of a coastal or countryside retreat, making spontaneous or last-minute breaks simple and accessible.”
Most popular UK locations trending for short breaks in 2025
Further analysis of internal booking data from Parkdean Resorts identified two specific locations as the UK’s go-to destinations for couples.
In the past year, our neighbouring Wales has emerged as a key destination for couples. The coastal charm and picturesque landscapes of the region make it a firm favourite, particularly among couples seeking a romantic, nature-filled escape.
East Anglia has been the most popular destination for couples in 2025 so far. With open beaches, quaint seaside towns and easy access from major cities, East Anglia continues to be a top destination for families and couples alike.
