New booking data reveals Hen Do spend is up 59%

bride and bridesmaids on wedding day

New booking data from kate & tom’s reveals Hens are leading the way on forward-planning, with only 7% of Hen Dos being booked within 3 months, compared to almost a quarter of Stags leaving it to the very last minute.

The way we Hen Do and Stag Do is evolving; once a crazy night out on the town is now all about creating memories with longevity. We’re seeing the rise of the ‘Zen Do’, multi-generational getaways, ‘Sten-do’ joint celebrations, and a shift towards individual celebrations tailored to personal hobbies and interests that transcend the classic one-nighter.

While the nature of the Hen Do and Stag Do is undoubtedly evolving, some things remain unchanged, like our organisation - or lack thereof - where Stags are concerned. Data from luxury holiday house company, kate & tom’s, has revealed that between 2023 and 2025, Stags booking their ‘do’ with 3 months notice or less was at a staggering 24%, compared to Hens at only 6%.

Andy Brooker, travel expert at kate & tom’s, weighs in on the ever-changing landscape of engagement celebrations: “It’s fascinating to see the cultural insight in the data, with Hens consistently proving significantly more organised than Stags. The sweet-spot for Hens booking their group celebrations is 6-9 months in advance, while the majority of Stags book within 3-6 months of their Do.

“We’ve seen a shift in the way we’re celebrating, too. There’s an increased appetite for group getaways, including multi-generational getaways, that prioritise quality time and creating core memories. Whether that’s a group stay with the full works of facilities, a heated pool, hottub, yoga room, or a games room with karaoke set-up as the number 1 priority, we’re moving away from the one-size-fits-all Hen Do and Stag Do. It all really boils down to personal preference.”

The data doesn’t lie
The data points to short-notice planning remaining a defining feature of Stag Dos, while Hen Dos show a tendency towards planning in advance.

Across three consecutive years, Hen Dos are consistently more likely to be booked up to a year in advance. Hen Dos were around three times more likely than Stag Dos to be booked 9-12 months ahead, indicating a sustained difference in planning behaviour rather than a one-off trend. Nearly 1 in 5 Hen Dos (19%) were booked 9-12 months ahead in 2025, compared to 8% Stag Dos.

Between 2023 and 2025, an average of 24% of Stag Dos were booked at the last minute, or rather 3 months in advance. The Hens could never (well, fewer than 1 in 10 could) with only 6% of the future brides cutting it fine.

Hens are spending more than ever
Booking data from kate & tom’s also revealed an uptick in extravagant celebrations, and a widening difference in the way Hens and Stags approach the scale of their ‘Do’.

Between 2023 and 2025, the maximum recorded Hen Do booking value increased by 59%, compared to a 15% increase for Stag Dos, suggesting that Hens are becoming increasingly deliberate in their approach and execution of their celebrations.

2024 marked a clear peak for both Hens and Stags, with a collective increase of 30% from 2023. The data points to a moment where expectations around group celebrations stepped up across the board, with a collective increase of 25% of maximum-spend bookings from 2023-2025.

Cultural shift in engagement celebrations
The data points to a shift towards celebrations becoming more intentional than ever. Couples and their loved ones are creating something memorable rather than spontaneous, and taking real enjoyment in getting together to celebrate a pre-wedding milestone in its own right.

This trend shows no sign of slowing down, it’s likely that Hen Do and Stag Do group celebrations will become increasingly popular, with respective partners making their celebrations entirely their own - whether that’s an activity-based staycation, yoga and sip, a dinner party with a private chef, or a night of games and endless shared laughter - we’re here for it.
