With Margaret Dabbs London's fabulous clinic recently launching a range of new treatments, I just had to find out what all the fuss is about. On a list of locations, which includes Marylebone, Notting Hill, Harrogate as well as Dubai and Quatar, the Harrogate clinic offers the same high-end luxury approach.

Margaret Dabbs is a qualified podiatrist, who spotted a gap in the market for results-driven foot treatments with an emphasis on cosmetics. So expect expert advice alongside fabulously painted toenails!

My lovely podiatrist, Carol Bermejo, took me to a treatment room where I sat on a ridiculously comfortable massage chair and thoroughly enjoyed playing with the buttons, like the big child that I am. I've only ever had a quick file and paint before so the thought of such a thorough treatment was making me a little anxious. Carol soon made me totally relaxed by explaining exactly what the procedure involved.

She started by trimming, filing and buffing my nails – this is not using your standard emery board. This was with an industrial-looking drill with different attachments to smooth and refine the surface of my nails. She did one foot at a time so I could see the difference between the two, and it was incredible. I don't think my toenails have ever looked so perfect.

She then moved onto the rest of my feet. Years of flip-flop wearing, bare-foot walking and non-moisturising has left my feet dry, cracked and sometimes very sore. Carol pulled out a rather scary looking blade (stop reading now, if you're eating your dinner!) and sliced away the hard skin from the soles. She then used a file attachment on the drill to smooth down the whole of my foot, including my problem cracked heels.

There was absolutely no pain throughout the whole appointment, just a slight tickle. Carol was full of tips and advice on caring for your feet, and how to prevent such issues as fungal infections, corns and callouses. Her knowledge was incredible – even correctly guessing that I have laminate flooring at home based on the damage to my skin.

My foot overhaul was finished off with the luxurious Intensive Treatment Foot Oil and Intensive Treatment Foot Lotion, both of which were available to purchase so you can get super-soft feet at home. I was then taken to one of Carol's colleagues who painted my toenails in a zesty shade of orange and I sat waiting for them to dry with a cup of tea, admiring my fantastic new feet. They were so soft and pretty, I barely recognised them as my own! When I left, I was walking on air.
