We caught up with founder of Calla Shoes, Jennifer Bailey. Jennifer is committed to providing women with bunions an elegant and stylish shoe collection.

"Whether you're the bride or groom, bridesmaid, mother-of-the-bride or wedding guest you want to look and feel your best on the big day and that often means a new outfit. But unfortunately for many wedding attendees, new shoes combined with all night dancing, can leave feet in agony," says Jennifer. Here are her top tips for surviving the day in comfort and style...

1. Practice makes perfect – spending time walking around in your new shoes ahead of the big day will ensure that you can strut down the aisle pain-free. It'll also help mould the leather to the shape of the foot, instantly making them more comfortable. Try wearing the shoes for an hour or two a day in the weeks running up to the wedding to ensure they're as comfortable as possible.

2. Be shoe savvy the day before – whatever your plans are on the run up to the wedding day make sure you are wearing comfortable shoes; you don't want sole burn or heel rubbing to aggravate you the following day. Trainers may not be your footwear of choice if you're having a formal dinner, but choose a trusted pair of shoes that you know you can wear for hours on end.

3. If they're not comfortable, don't wear them – this may sound obvious, but we recently commissioned a survey which revealed a quarter of British women will wear a pair of shoes they know are uncomfortable at least once every three months! Weddings are not the occasion for this; they can be long days, with hours of non-stop dancing. You don't want sore feet to get in the way of the fun.

4. Get shoes that fit – Calla was created out of my own frustration that I couldn't find beautiful shoes for my wedding day, as I suffer from bunions. Since then I have worked with podiatrists and professional shoe fitters to create a range that are comfortable and look great. Whether your feet are wide, narrow, flat or suffer from bunions there will be shoes out there for you. They may take a little longer to find, but the search will be worth it in the end.

5. Comfort over style – our survey also found that 70 per cent of women think shoes are important to their overall personal image. We all know how important it is to look your best at a wedding, but that doesn't mean that style should win over comfort. Find a shoe that complements your outfit but won't leave you in agony by the time the speeches start.

6. If in doubt go a size bigger – if you're trying to decide between two shoe sizes, my advice would be to go for the larger size – it's what all the celebrities do. Feet will expand when you get hot, so after just a few minutes on the dancefloor you'll be thankful you've got the bigger size. You can always try removable insoles if they are a little too big to start with; simply remove them when they start to feel tight.

7. Finally, get a pedicure – even if you're wearing closed toe shoes. Because let's face it, sometimes you just need to kick off those heels and dance the night away, so at least your feet will look pretty when you're doing it!
