British summertime: longer days, the feeling of the sun on your skin, the smell of freshly cut grass, barbecues, picnics, the seaside, Pimm’s, and my absolute favourite part, the Championships at Wimbledon. It’s no wonder us Brits look forward to the sunny season every year and the wealth of wonderful countryside around our region springs to life. So, it’s with this image in mind we decided to bring you a round up of Cheshire and Merseyside wedding venues blessed with their own glorious gardens. Check it out on page 21.
As I’m sure you’ve gathered by this point, food is a subject very dear to my heart… and stomach! We consulted local caterers and put together a mouth-watering roundup of delectable delicacies. So, head over to page 53, but perhaps not on an empty tum!
I might be a tad biased here, but given the stunning and hugely varied settings our region has to offer during the summer months, and the all around sense of joy we as a nation seem to feel as soon as the sun comes out, it’s no surprise that July and August are still the most popular months to tie the knot in the UK. So if you’ve plumped for this period to say “I do”, don’t forget to consult our Hot Topic experts over on page 58, they have the lowdown on creating idyllic seasonal vows.

Thornton Hall Hotel & Spa

You’re spoilt for choice when it comes to spaces for your big day. The Garden Pagoda is set in the grounds as is the Garden Lake Arbour, both being outdoor spaces they don’t have any limit on guest numbers. The Oak Room in the main house is a traditional panelled room hosting intimate ceremonies and wedding breakfasts for 24 of your nearest and dearest. The Lawns is an oak-panelled dining room with an impressive leather and mother of pearl ceiling. There’s room here for 80 to witness your vows and enjoy your first meal together as newlyweds. The Cristal Suite, boasting no less than eight chandeliers, is suitable for larger affairs and can host 200 for the ceremony and 120 for the wedding breakfast. Finally, the Torinton Suite is completely self-contained with its own entrance, orangery and terrace with two water features. Here you can accommodate 500 loved ones.
