May/June 2020

Firstly, I hope all of our readers have been keeping well during this surreal, unprecedented time. It would be hard for me to not mention the dreaded c-word, however, I admire how everyone, particularly in our wedding industry, no matter how badly they’re affected, has come together to support one another. The tide will start turning, and we can all begin to re-plan postponed weddings, re-book honeymoons and get back to our wonderful world of “I dos” – supporting local couples and businesses finding their feet again.

This issue, will hopefully give you some light relief, and offer up some inspiration for your big days at the end of this year and beyond. So, turn to page 20 to find the start of our real weddings section. We have no less than four of our wonderful readers’ love stories to share with you this issue, so dive in and enjoy. If you are struggling to know which way is up with your planning right now, turn to page 53 where our experts share their advice on how to organise your wedding during the current crisis, even if that means you’ve sadly been forced to postpone.

I hope you’ll find something to make you smile amongst these pages.

Merseyside Maritime Museum

The Grade I listed Merseyside Maritime Museum boasts an impressive location on the Royal Albert Dock. The building is steeped in industrial history, making it an iconic landmark in Liverpool. Transformed from a storage warehouse where valuable shipping cargo was stored over 100 years ago, features of this characterful space include stylish exposed brick walls and large beautiful windows. Fascinating objects and artefacts are displayed in spacious galleries, which run throughout. The venue still boasts many of its original features, including stunning colonnades, which overlook the water. This outdoor space is an ideal area to enjoy drinks receptions, evening buffets and barbecues. It even offers you the opportunity to hop on a boat and sail off into the sunset.

Ceremonies accompanied by 200 guests take place in the events space on the fourth floor overlooking the iconic Dock and Three Graces. Later on, you’ll celebrate with up to 400 of your nearest and dearest here as well as in the adjacent Maritime Dining Room. The wooden floors running through the two spaces give the entire fourth floor a light, airy feel, perfect for weddings of any size.
