May/June 2021

I’m going to be a bridesmaid! As you’ll have gathered, I’m giddy with excitement and couldn’t wait to share my news with you. Our dear Melissa Barker, fellow editor here at CWM, popped to the question last month asking me if I’d accept this huge honour. I’m thrilled to be taking this journey with such a dear friend and we’ll be sharing our learnings every step of the way, so don’t miss Melissa’s bridal diary and moodboard over on page 80.

Can you believe we’re now into summer already? Sure, I’m looking forward to longer days, sunny conditions and barbecues with friends, but above all I can’t wait to see how your wedding plans come to life. I can see big days being even more celebratory than they previously were, if that’s even possible. We’ve all developed a deeper appreciation for the finer things in life over the past 18 months, love being chief among them, and to see it taking centre stage once more will be wonderful. So, as soon as Boris gives the green light, grab your loved ones, hug them as tight as possible and party like it’s 1999! And, when you’ve done that, don’t forget to head over to www.yourcheshiremerseyside.wedding/getinvolved- real-wedding and tell us all about it, so we can spread the joy.

Enjoy and keeeep planning!

1920s wedding inspiration from renowned wedding planner

If you are looking for a wedding day with sophistication and style, you won't go far wrong with 1920s wedding inspiration to shape your big day. Celebrity wedding planner, entertainment agent and hospitality consultant, Liz Taylor of the Taylor Lynn Corporation, has noticed a recent renewed vigour among her clients for 1920s weddings. Here she shares her tips on how to create the atmosphere of the roaring twenties for a style-packed wedding: "Extravagant. Exuberant. Unrivalled glamour. And incorporating those alluring Art Deco touches that are synonymous with the era, a twenties wedding is, and always should be, a celebration in style," begins Liz. "Since lockdown began to lift, we've been inundated with requests for 1920s themed parties. People want to just let go and have fun, so what better era than the roaring twenties." "It may seem that a 1920s themed wedding is easy, but if you go over the top the event can feel gimmicky. The aim is to achieve the perfect balance of stylish 1920s touches without feeling like you've stepped onto the set of the Great Gatsby."

Retreat to the city at The Marylebone, London

County Wedding Magazines' editor Hannah Faulder enjoys a much-needed city escape!

"As the country prepared for Lockdown Part II, my husband and I managed to sneak in a last-minute escape to the city to enjoy a much-needed retreat at The Marylebone. Nestled in the hotel's super-trendy namesake neighbourhood, between the Georgian Welbeck Street and the part-pedestrianised Marylebone Lane, you're just a short walk from London's most famous Monopoly locations, from Bond Street to Mayfair.
