May/June 2022

Finally, the sun is shining! It feels like it’s been a long time coming doesn’t it? As much as I’m very much a winter bunny, I must admit that feeling a warm breeze on my face for a change has cheered me up. My friends and I have decided to compile a bucket list of activities we’d like to enjoy this summer, and plans are well underway for our very own CWM bride’s hen do. If you’re worried about what your best gals might have planned for yours, the best way is to maintain an open line of communication. Make sure you lay down perimeters and make it abundantly clear well in advance if L plates, sashes and the like aren’t your thing. Olivia, Nolwenn and I sat bride Melissa down for a chat first to make sure we didn’t make any faux pas and asked her to provide us with a guest list and options for available dates. No doubt you’ll have been careful about your bridesmaid choices, they love you and know you well, so we’re sure you’re in capable hands. Relax and enjoy the break from planning everything yourself.

You’ll find this, the first of our summer issues, brimming with plenty of inspiration and advice as always. If you’re feeling a little bewildered when it comes to finding the perfect photographer to capture your wedding, we introduce you to a few of the region’s finest, as we get to know them and what makes them tick.

Enjoy and keeeep planning!

Haydock Park Racecourse

Set in 127 acres of beautiful parkland, Haydock Park Racecourse is a dramatic scene setter for any wedding day. The grounds feature a picturesque tree-lined drive and delightful views over the racecourse. When you book your big day here, you’ll be allocated a dedicated wedding planner to help you make preparations, as well as a team of operational and events support staff on the day itself.

There’s a whole host of wedding spaces available here. The largest is the Park Suite, which can host 100 for a ceremony, 400 for the wedding breakfast and 450 for the evening reception. A contemporary space, it boasts floor-to-ceiling windows and spectacular views of the whole course. You also have the option for it to be divided into three separate entertaining areas.

The Whittle Suite is an inviting space, perfect for intimate wedding celebrations with its panoramic views and distinctive atmosphere. It can accommodate 80 for the “I dos,” 60 for a wedding breakfast, and 100 for the evening do. Other spaces include the Premier Suite (55 ceremony, 110 dining, 300 evening guests), Jubilee Suite (80 ceremony, 80 dining, 150 evening), Horseshoe Suite (100 ceremony, 100 dining, 250 evening), and Lancaster Suite (150 ceremony, 100 dining, 200 evening).

Carringtons Catering is preparing for a busy wedding season

Carringtons Catering is welcoming the return of its jam-packed events diary with dates already being booked up until 2025. Hitting record numbers in its 40-year history, the team look set to cater for up to 15 events a week during this next 12 months, with some wedding and private functions requiring more than 70 members of staff to facilitate them. It's a stark contrast to the previous two years for the company's directors Darren and Helen Wynn who were heavily hit by the pandemic and left with no choice but to put operations on hold until the easing of national restrictions. Master Chef of Great Britain and director Darren says, "We're back to doing what we love with the venues we're proud to work with – we've never been this busy."
