Anyone who knows me knows that I’m a devoted sun-worshipper. Any little patch of sunlight and I’ll be in it – so it may come as a surprise that I’m actually kinda looking forward to autumn, mainly because I have two weddings to go to! One is in a gorgeous rustic barn in Lancashire; the other is a small laid-back affair in my native Essex. The two settings couldn’t be more different and it got me thinking about all the unusual places in which couples can now tie the knot. To see our pick of the region’s quirkiest venues turn to page 25.
For any of you lovely readers who are getting married next summer, you’ve probably started thinking about the one. No, not your partner – the dress! Our fabulous fashion editor has pulled together a whole host of swoon-worthy gowns on page 67, all taking inspiration from a bygone era.

Viki and Andy took inspiration from their favourite Disney film
Viki Moglione and Andy Currie first met in 2005 when Andy was studying at the construction college where Viki worked. “I used to renew his bus pass or sort out any payment queries for him,” the bride remembers. “Never in a million years did I think he’d be my future husband!” Fast-forward to 2013 and Viki was working for Emirates Airline in Dubai. “I received a message from Andy asking if we had a mutual friend; it turns out he was besties with my cousin throughout school,” the newlywed recalls. While on leave back in Liverpool, Viki and Andy decided to meet up. “I went to his house and we talked for hours – I couldn’t believe how much we had in common,” she tells us. Viki soon returned to Dubai but the couple spoke every day, knowing that they didn’t want to be apart. “I resigned from my job and returned to the UK where I moved in with Andy,” say Viki. “The rest is history.”
Knowing his love wasn’t one for grand proposals, Andy asked Viki to marry him while they watched Everton winning on TV. He asked, “Will you be my bezzie for life?” Of course Viki said ‘Yes’ and they soon set the date for 9th September, 2017. Here, the bride tells us about their special day…

Carden Park Hotel

There are a variety of reception options from the new Morgan’s Bar Terrace to the large Outdoor Gazebo and the welcoming Library with its lounge sofas and cosy log fires.
Happy couples receive the services of a dedicated wedding planner, complimentary menu tasting and the use of the bridal suite for their first night as newlyweds.
