'Anti-wedding' is the hottest new wedding trend this summer, from ditching tradition with bridal pant suits, short wedding dresses and mismatched bridesmaid dresses - get ready to see these trends everywhere this wedding season. Wedding supply experts at Aura Print have scoped out TikTok to serve up the top 10 anti-wedding wedding trends to look out for this summer.

Anti-bride - 28.4 million views
More people are ditching traditional for unconventional, allowing for their special day to be even more unique to the couple. The trend is going nowhere this summer, with over 28.4 million TikTok views and a 130% global increase in searches since January. Pinterest's 2023 wedding report also revealed a 490% increase in searches for 'anti-bridal weddings', and some unconventional Pinterest trends have included underwater weddings, at-home weddings and DIY weddings.

Cheap Wedding - 19.2 million views
The market for cheaper weddings is bigger than ever, and it's a great option for a couple wanting to save on cash. With over 19.2 million TikTok views and a 66% increase in search interest for cheap weddings this year, the trend includes more sustainable, local and DIY options for decorations, wedding invitations, floral arrangements and attire.

Short Wedding Dress - 15.3 million views
Short wedding dresses have been all the rage since model and American personality Sofia Richie sported a post-wedding bespoke Chanel dress that sent shock waves through the wedding sphere. The trend has seen a 156.4% increase in searches this year, with over 15.3 million TikTok views.

Mismatched Bridesmaid Dresses - 5 million views
Let's face it, bridesmaid dresses may be the most beloved wedding tradition that everyone hates. Turn your back on tradition with mismatched bridesmaid dresses, which boasts over 5 million TikTok views and a Google search increase of 9900% this year. This trend allows the brides besties to embrace their own style, and creates a truly unique ensemble. Many brides opt for a colour palette or general guide, to avoid it looking too mismatched.

Bridal Wedding Suits - 3.6 million views
Gown-lovers, look away. Bridal wedding suits are taking over the game, with modern brides opting for a bold but classic ceremony look, or incorporating the suit into one of many looks for the big day. The trend has over 3.6 million TikTok views and a 177% increase in global searches this year. Model Emily Ratajkowski surprised us all on her wedding day when she showed up in a simple but glamorous yellow suit.

Married to your surname? 26% of women are planning on keeping theirs

Lots of people are ditching traditions when it comes to modern weddings and marriage - one of which quickly losing favour is the tradition of taking your partner's surname. In a recent survey carried out by Pandora UK, almost nine in ten (88%) women said they think that attitudes to married names are changing in 2026 ¹. When asked, over a quarter (26%) of unmarried women said they'd keep their last name if they got married, whilst less than half (45%) said they'd take their partner's name. This is indicative of the shift in opinion in recent years, as when married women were asked, only a sixth (17%) of women said they kept their maiden names when they got married, whilst the majority (78%) took their partner's surname, with just 4% choosing to double-barrel their last name with their significant other.
